clumping bamboo

Clumping Bamboo doesn’t spread. Rather it grows like a tussock. New culms (stems) emerging each summer, around the perimeter of the clump.

Depending on the species, the clump will need to be thinned out every few years. You get the bamboo pole and your plant is young again. Everyone’s happy.

Clumping Bamboo can be grown in the ground. However, large species, over 8 metres, need to be planted clear of masonry structures.
